Mr. Bogart has more than 34 years of insurance industry experience, ranging from liability underwriting to being the president and chief executive officer of a nationally recognized excess and surplus lines brokerage operation.
Following four years at La Salle University and two in the United States Navy, he joined the Insurance Company of North America. After completing its rigorous training program he went on to become head of a production unit in its New York office. In 1973 he joined California Union Insurance Co., (a subsidiary of INA/CIGNA) in Philadelphia as casualty manager, Eastern region.
In 1976, Mr. Bogart joined Admiral Insurance Company, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, as assistant vice president. He was the casualty underwriter handling all East Coast operations. He was approached, in 1978, by INA/CIGNA to return to Philadelphia to establish an East Coast office for Montgomery & Collins. He was vice president and manager until 1980 when he became senior vice president of Falcon Insurance Company (Commercial Union) in Boston.
At the request of CIGNA, Bogart moved to Chicago in 1982 to become vice president and manager of Montgomery & Collins’ Chicago operation. His responsibilities included being the underwriting manager for Pacific Employers Insurance Co., which included arranging 90% facultative reinsurance on each risk.
Mr. Bogart became president and chief executive officer of NAS Ltd., in 1986. NAS was a large excess and surplus lines brokerage specializing in major industrial, commercial and hospital malpractice and professional liability accounts. He retired from NAS in 1995 although he remained as an advisor and a liaison to markets until 1996.
Mr. Bogart’s broad experience includes; large risk casualty underwriting, reinsurance (ceded & assumed) and brokerage. He has been an underwriting officer for three insurers. He is experienced in high hazard liability exposures and has extensive knowledge of coverages, wordings and intents.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of The Surplus Lines Association of Illinois. Mr. Bogart currently acts as an associate consultant with Robert Hughes Associates and has recently been involved in projects concerning reinsurance matters.
